If you are thinking about investing in porcelain veneers, you might be wondering how much you’ll end up spending. In this article, we outline the cost of dental veneers in our practice and why they cost as much as they do.
The Cost of Dental Veneers
The initial consultation fee is $300. During this appointment, your dentist will ask what you would like to achieve and discuss the treatment that may be suitable for you. Information will be gathered which may include X-rays and clinical photographs.
Subsequently, you will be provided with a fully customised treatment plan and estimate of fees.
You can expect to pay approximately $2500 per veneer. The cost per veneer may be reduced when
- many teeth are treated or
- the veneers are done as part of a comprehensive treatment plan
Why Are Dental Veneers So Expensive?
The process of getting dental veneers involves time in the dental clinic, the veneers being crafted by a dental ceramist in a dental laboratory, and time spent planning and designing the look of the veneers.
The cost of ceramic veneers reflects
- the quality of the dental ceramic
- the skill and experience of the dentist
- the craftsmanship of the dental ceramist, and
- the time spent on your case.
When you think about how long you’ll have your veneers, it is well worth investing in high-quality ones that you’ll be happy with. If veneers are well-planned, well-made, and maintained correctly, they will last for many, many years.
The old adage “You get what you pay for” definitely applies when it comes to dental veneers. Be wary of cheap veneers and overseas dentistry.
Are There Less Costly Alternatives To Ceramic Veneers?
Composite resin veneers cost less than ceramic veneers and can be a suitable alternative for some patients. However, composite veneers generally don’t last as long as veneers made of ceramic and require more maintenance. They are more susceptible to chipping and staining and may therefore need to be repaired or replaced.
Procedures such as teeth whitening and straightening may improve the appearance of teeth to a level that is satisfactory without the need for ceramic veneers.
