Replacement of a Missing Incisor
Before
Rachel had a congenitally missing upper right lateral incisor. The deciduous (baby) tooth was retained in place for as long as possible and built up with composite resin to make it look larger. Over the years, this had become discoloured and the deciduous tooth started to become loose, so Rachel was now after a more permanent solution.
After
The deciduous tooth was extracted, and a temporary partial denture was worn for a few weeks while the gum was healing. During this time, a course of home-whitening was done.
A bonded bridge was placed. Its ceramic wing was bonded onto the palatal surface (back) of the upper right canine. A ceramic tooth joined to the wing replaced the upper right lateral incisor.
